In progress

This was in progress some times ago, and theoretically, it is still in progress, until further notice at least. Have a good and productive week !!

Inspired of course by the one, the only, the king of the Arts, he who must always be named, that is Alphonse Mucha.

Guest - Paul Signac & Pointillism

As I said some times ago, in this blog, we can afford any kind of guest. Here we do not spare with talents, nearby or remote, living or dead.
So today let's welcome Paul Signac (1863-1935), a french painter who introduced Pointillism along with Georges Seurat (so our guest today is a nearby dead painter ... hum...).
I will not develop more on his life and accomplishments, you can read as well as me an article on wikipedia (here). Let me just say that I didn't know much about him until last year in Vienna, where I stopped dead at the Albertina museum in front of this :

It is a dream in color, well at least one of mine, and I didn't know it until I saw this painting (which is quite big in real life).
Better still, there are more !

I tried to control myself so you will not admire all the other paintings of Paul Signac in this post. But have a look out there, Mr google will help you.
And lasts words before leaving, Paul Signac was also a genius with watercolor. He loved boats, water and ... can you guess ? ... harbours. There is surely enough goodness for another post, but as a present here are some watercolors below. Magic.

La chute de Rome - Dr Sketchy

I was lucky enough to attend my first Dr Sketchy life drawing session last week, in Café Carmen (Paris 9e - The last home of Georges Bizet, by the way... splendid). In spite of the crowded rooms, I enjoyed it immensely. Here is the product of my efforts. Most poses where quite short, about 5 or 10 minutes if I am not mistaken. You can find pictures of the event and models as well as other sketches here. Looking forward the next session.
Soon please.

For all the other Disney-obsessed on the loose over there, here are two good news that should brighten your day :

1. If you didn't already know, talented animator Andreas Deja (who has for instance animated Scar and Jafar) recently started a blog which is already full of Disney gems.
Take a look at (or spend hours at) http://andreasdeja.blogspot.com/

2. Here are some Disney gems from his blog, right here, you don't even have to click and can already begin to stare at the screen. Right now. Lucky you.
